KGC provides the following services to newcomers as they settle in Canada and start their new lives.
Accessing services: Employment, health care, housing, education, training and legal aid.
Immigration support: Citizenship, permanent residency, work permits and other issues.
Applying for government income support and benefits: Ontario Works, Child and Family Benefits, etc.
Connecting with community programs: Language training, professional development, recreational activities and children’s programs.
Our Program helps newcomers to be aware and able to overcome some of the immigration challenges that newcomers to Canada face including:
Lack of resources, including lack of access to public services and social programs.
Finding affordable housing.
Getting used to the cold weather, including snow and ice.
Overcoming homesickness for one's country of origin.
Obtaining driver's license and car insurance.
Dealing with discrimination & systemic bias.
Learning about Canadian culture & history.
Learning the laws of Canada.
Friends and family members moving (Family reunification).
Poor integration into Canadian society.
Long and complicated immigration process.
